Some chose to make the MLK Jr. holiday on Jan. 18 a day 'on' —
giving
of their time to volunteer projects around Williamson County.
Organized by United Way of Williamson County,
The Volunteer Center and nine organizations, 175 volunteers raked, shoveled,
organized, cleaned, and made blankets. Participating organizations included
Williamson County Champion Park, Habitat for Humanity of Williamson County,
Goodwill of Hutto, Round Rock Housing Authority, WBC Opportunities in
Taylor and Spirit Reins in Liberty Hill. The blanket-making project was
coordinated at the Neighborhood Conference Committee offices in Round
Rock, with Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center and Hope Alliance
as the beneficiaries of the blankets.
Some of the schools, businesses
and service groups participating included Westwood High School, Target
and the Round Rock ChangeMakers.

time and talent to making an impact in our community. … [ read

In recent days, the Swine Flu has been reported in humans in Texas,
across the U.S. and abroad.
Prevention and/or controlling the spread of Swine Flu is
important to us at United Way of Williamson County so we offer the following

use
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth (germs are often spread this
way)
- Try to avoid contact with individuals who are sick
- If you think you might be sick, help prevent the spread of the flu
– stay home from school or work and seek medical care if necessary
- Note: Swine Flu cannot be contracted from the consumption of pork
