What would happen if 250 local small business owners invested $250 in helping people in Williamson County?

Each year, many Williamson County workplace campaign partners support local education initiatives that encourage pre-k readiness and high school graduation, health and well-being, and financial independence for working families. The people of Williamson County have a long history of reaching out a helping hand to others in a time of need. That’s who we are. That’s what we do. It’s what makes this a great place to live and work.

Today, the challenges confronted by nonprofit organizations in our area have never been greater. Unemployment and job insecurity remain high. Prolonged drought and record-breaking heat are devastating countless farmers and ranchers and threatening the way of life for many. Costly and incredibly destructive wild fires have burned a record-setting number of homes in our area. Massive cuts to public education will have tremendous ripple effects through local economies.

Fortunately for all of us, Williamson County residents are generous people. When times get tough, we have always dug deeper, volunteered more, and rolled our sleeves up to get to work. Now more than ever United Way of Williamson County needs your help. Today’s United Way is a different organization than what you may have experienced in past or heard about from family and friends. “Help” is more than your money. Help is also the personal and professional expertise you could bring as a volunteer. Help is also the phone call that you make to an elected official on behalf of public policies that support children and families.

United Way is working every day to assist those individuals and families shaken by economic uncertainty, budget cuts and natural disasters, not just for the present, but for the long haul. By supporting the long-term efforts to educate our children, provide opportunities for employable adults to earn a living wage, and insuring for the overall health of our friends and family, Williamson County can remain a place of opportunity and growth for everyone.

Make a Difference in Williamson County
By participating in the $250 from 250 Small Business Challenge, you will join with over 50 local companies and businesses that participate annually in a workplace campaign. By joining together, small businesses can make a significant impact on addressing many needs facing our friends and neighbors in need.

Everyone deserves the opportunity to have a good life: a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement, and good health. Advancing the common good is less about helping one person at a time and more on changing systems that help all of us. We all win when a child succeeds in school, when families are financially stable, when people are healthy.

United Way of Williamson County invests in education, income and health initiatives that focus on lasting change and influencing conditions that prevent problems from happening in the first place.
