Campaign Partner Spotlight: Atmos Energy

Q. Tell us about your company.
A. Atmos Energy is the largest natural gas distribution only company in the United States. Our regulated distribution operations deliver natural gas to 3.2 million residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural and public-authority customers. Our distribution services are provided to more than 1,600 communities in 12 states. Round Rock is home to the Southwest/South Regional office and employs 65 people locally.

Q. How are you involved with United Way of Williamson County?
A. Atmos Energy participates in the annual United Way Campaign. We have a very active committee that prepares and implements the campaign, and our employees are very supportive each year. We also volunteer for a variety of United Way events throughout the year including the Day of Caring and Live United Night at the Dell Diamond.

Q. Why do you support United Way of Williamson County?
A. At Atmos Energy, a community is more than a place to do business. It's where we live, volunteer our time and support charities. To us, being a caring neighbor is part of our responsibility as your natural gas company. The United Way of Williamson County is an opportunity for us as a company and individually to be able to assist many more worthy organizations than we otherwise would be able to support.

Q. If you were able to make one lasting impact in Williamson County, what would it be and how would you begin to achieve it?
A. Providing a place for under-served in the area to be able to go and obtain assistance from a variety of agencies, without having to travel all around town would be a great benefit to those families. That process has been started through a community project involving Atmos Energy (and others) working on the Round Rock non-profit campus. This project was in conjunction with the 2010 Day of Caring.

In May 2011, Atmos Energy was recognized for their commitment to United Way of Williamson County by receiving the Small Campaign Leadership Award. This award recognizes the commitment of Campaign Partners with less than 100 employees.
