Our work in HEALTH

Health is such a basic need, it impacts every aspect of a person’s daily life. A child with a toothache is unable to concentrate in school and succeed. A family without health insurance is often overwhelmed to the point of bankruptcy by the financial burdens of an illness. Seniors without prescription assistance have to make frightening decisions on which medicine they can afford and which ones they will go without.

The goal for our efforts in this area:

Improving people’s health

Our focus will be:

» Increasing access to critical healthcare services
» Reducing substance abuse, child abuse and domestic violence
» Increasing health education and preventive care

Some examples of measurable ways we're making a difference:

87,000 visits to physicians, dentists and mental health professionals were provided to 31,400 uninsured and under-insured individuals in Williamson County.
90 low-income, disabled individuals received extensive outpatient medical rehab services and service coordination.
9,600 nights of safety and shelter from family violence situations were provided to 700 individuals throughout the year.
1,700 children were provided with specialized abuse counseling and investigation services.
