Our work in INCOME

As many as one-third of working Americans do not earn enough money to meet their basic needs. These individuals are walking a financial tightrope — they are barely able to get by, with no ability to save for college, a home, or for retirement. With your help, United Way of Williamson County is working to reduce the number of lower-income families who are financially unstable.

The goal for our efforts in this area:

Helping families become financially stable and independent.

Our focus will be:

» Supporting basic needs
» Increasing financial education opportunities
» Helping hardworking people obtain job training and family-sustaining wages

Some examples of measurable ways we're making a difference:

18,500 individuals were provided with emergency assistance in the form of food pantries, utility and rent vouchers and crisis case management.
300 individuals in Williamson County received jobs-driven education and training aimed at increasing life-long financial independence.
168 families in Williamson County received tax preparation assistance, financial literacy education and/or benefits enrollment.
920 individuals in Williamson County received GED, English as a Second Language (ESL) and Basic Literacy tutoring and support.
