Building a stronger community through helping those who help others is a belief both Padgett Stratemann & Co. and United Way of Williamson County share. In order to be successful, United Way of Williamson County relies on all kinds of donations. While workplace campaign donations are the largest part of United Way’s success, in-kind donations from our partners and supporters in the community are equally as valuable. Last year, we received over $80,000 in support through in-kind donations.
As part of Padgett Stratemann & Co.’s bi-annual computer donation program, United Way of Williamson County recently received one gently-used laptop to support the free tax preparation services available for low-to-moderate income households. United Way of Williamson County was one of four 501(c)(3) organizations to have received laptops from Padgett Stratemann & Co. so far this year.
“We are very happy to help,” said Lester Sprouse, Managing Partner of Padgett Stratemann’s Austin office. “We want to help those who dedicate their lives to assisting others. When we do that, we build a stronger community.”
United Way of Williamson County will use the donated computer at VITA Free Tax sites across Williamson County. This volunteer-driven program provides free tax filings for households earning less than $53,000 annually as well as for senior citizens of all income levels. VITA sites are open through April 15th at locations in Georgetown, Hutto, Leander and Taylor.
"We are so grateful for the generousity of companies such as Padgett Strateman," said LeAnn Powers, Chief Professional Officer. "Having additional gently-used computers allows United Way of Williamson County to broaden its supportive reach even further and, in the process, is helping more local families become more financially stable and independent."
